改革開放以來，東部地區(qū)發(fā)展迅速。中國幅員遼闊，有 56 個民族，要實現中國的現代化，就必須加快西部地區(qū)的發(fā)展。西部地區(qū)資源豐富，但降雨少。在開發(fā)西部地區(qū)的同時，必須保持生態(tài)平衡。應該依靠科技教育，促進西部經濟的健康發(fā)展。

The Chinese Government has decided to quicken the development of the western region. Although the western region is rich in resourses， yet it is short of water. With its development we must keep the balance of nature.
